Hydro power value vs expense

I had heard of micro hydro power and can't seem to find any real information on it.

I live on a small stream, sometimes when it floods it runs very strong for several months at a time, other times it is dry. 

The valley that the creek runs through is also fairly windy with an almost constant breeze.

I am interested in learning what I can do here.  A real comprehensive look at my options, what the benefits will be and what something like this will cost and how long it will take to break even.
